I hope everyone had a safe and eventful new years eve last night! This is the second year that I haven't had a shot or a beer or even a good hangover the next morning! I did have a glass of some really good Cabernet Sovenyawn or however you spell it!
I was remenessing about all the years that I had played at Clubs on New Years Eve and how crazy it would get sometimes with all the crazy drunk people at the end of the night-- and how shitty the band would sound at the end of the night--- but still everyone would tell you how great you sounded and how tight the band was! It's kinda like the old saying "The Ugly gals always look better at the end of the night" well-- I guess the same would go for the band at the end of the night but with a twist---"The band sounds even better at the end of the night even when the band is smashed! Of course it always wasn't that way, when you played New Years at a club Where the Manager was buying rounds of drinks for the band, then it was o.k.-- but if you were playing a casual that was paying some decent money-- you remained sober as a "Virgin Monk it heat"! No matter how badly you wanted to loosen up by the last set-- you remained a "Virgin Monk in Heat" when it came to drinking, because you weren't there to get relaxed and sound sloppy!
Beer and Booze are really over rated. The problem I used to have is that "You can never get enough" especially when your chasin' Tequila" with light soda pop beer!
I've been sober for two years now and I play better, I sing better, I don't forget things and my wife and children "Still" love me! Now that's worth being sober for anytime-- anywhere!!
I hope your New years was as safe and sober as mine!
